Privacy notice
Last updated 2 October 2026.
This notice explains what we do with personal data when you use this website or make an enquiry. It is written to be read, not to be survived, so it is short.
Who we are. Blast EcoShield Ltd is the data controller. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 17070942, at Level 7, the Old Malt House, Clarence Street, Bath, BA1 5NS. We are a Cranfield University spin-out. Cranfield University is a separate organisation and is not a controller of the data described here.
What we collect. If you send us an enquiry, we collect the name, organisation, email address, telephone number and any message you give us. If you download one of our guides, we collect your name, work email, organisation, role, telephone number, sector and venue capacity. Nothing on either form is mandatory except the fields marked as such, and you decide how much to tell us. Where you have not given us a telephone number, we may add a business number for you from public business sources or a business data provider, so that we can call you. If you visit the site without contacting us, our host sets a small number of cookies needed to serve the pages and keep them secure, and our consent tool records your cookie choice. If you accept analytics cookies, we also measure how the site is used with Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, and Apollo tells us which organisation a visit comes from, worked out from its network address. That shows us which companies are reading the site, not who you are. Our cookie policy sets all of this out.
Why we use it. We use enquiry and guide data to reply to you, to follow up by email or telephone about your site and whether we can help, to prepare for a call and to keep a record of what was discussed. If the conversation goes further, we use it to run the project. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: following up a business enquiry or guide request you chose to make, and in some cases the steps taken before entering into a contract. We do not call numbers registered with the Telephone Preference Service or the Corporate Telephone Preference Service unless you have told us we may. Where you have accepted analytics cookies, we use the company-level visit data from Apollo to understand which organisations are interested in our work and to decide whom to approach, on the basis of our legitimate interests. We have recorded an assessment of that balance, and you can ask us for a copy. We do not use website data to build a profile of you as a person, and we do not sell it.
Marketing. We may send you occasional information about our work if you are a business contact and it is relevant to your role. Every message carries a one-click unsubscribe and we act on it straight away. You can also tell us to stop at any time and we will.
Who sees it. Our website is hosted by Squarespace, and our consent tool is provided by CookieYes. Site measurement is provided by Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Apollo. Enquiries are stored in Salesforce, our customer relationship system. Email runs through Microsoft 365. Each of these processes data on our instructions under a written contract. Some of them store data outside the United Kingdom, and where they do, the transfer relies on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision. We do not pass your details to anyone else without telling you, unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it. Enquiries that do not lead anywhere are deleted after two years. Where we have worked with you, we keep the project record for six years after the work ends, which is the period during which a claim could be brought. Accounting records are kept for the periods HMRC requires.
Your rights. You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, object to our use of it, and ask for it in a portable form. You can also object to direct marketing at any time and we must stop. Use the enquiry form and mark your message for the attention of our data protection contact. We answer within one month.
Complaints. If you think we have handled your data badly, tell us first and we will try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by telephone on 0303 123 1113.
Changes. If we change this notice we will change the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the page for a reasonable period.
